The team from Upper Mead Care Home took to the field for some fundraising duties at Henfield Cricket Club’s President’s Day, helping to raise money for Cash for Kids while enjoying a wonderful day with the local community.
Colleagues from Upper Mead, which is part of the Splendid Care Group, volunteered their time to run a bustling fundraising stall featuring a tombola, bottle stall, home-made cakes and plenty of sweet treats for children. The stall proved to be a real crowd-pleaser, helping to raise more than £130 for a worthy cause while adding to the festive atmosphere of the day.
The event held a particular significance for many members of the Upper Mead team. Several colleagues either play for Henfield Cricket Club themselves or have family members involved with the club, making the day a natural partnership and a chance to give something back to a community they are proud to be part of.
Residents, relatives, friends and local supporters all stopped by to enjoy the festivities, helping to make the occasion a real community success.
Lynn Lovett, Home Manager at Upper Mead Care Home, said: “It was a pleasure to meet so many members of the local community and to support Henfield Cricket Club on such a special day. We’re proud to be part of such a wonderful community and were delighted to help raise money for Cash for Kids.
“Many of our residents, their families and our colleagues are avid cricket fans, so getting involved felt like a perfect fit. The team really stepped up to the wicket, giving up their time to volunteer and helping to make the day such a success. From the cakes to the tombola, everyone bowled us over with their generosity.
“We’d like to thank everyone who stopped by our stall, donated or simply came along for a chat. It was a fantastic day and as the sun was shining, there was no chance that rain could stop play!”
Throughout 2026 and through various fundraising activities, Upper Mead has raised more than £300 for Cash for Kids.
