Learning Event

SENIOR care leaders will gather next month for a ground-breaking learning event focused on helping care organisations safely govern the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the sector.

AI: From Ungoverned Risk to Governed Innovation will bring together care providers, governance specialists and regulatory experts for what will be a practical, interactive working event which is focused on AI safety, compliance and leadership.

Hosted by Splendid Care Group, the event is free and open to care leaders at any stage of their AI journey. It will take place on May 6th at the organisation’s Centre for Excellence, based close to Horsham, West Sussex.

Splendid Care Managing Director Antony Hall said: “As AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and other generative platforms become increasingly embedded in everyday work, many care organisations are already using AI, often without formal oversight.

“This event aims to help care leaders move from uncertainty and risk to confident, well‑governed innovation that protects people supported in care settings and satisfies the CQC’s ‘Well‑Led’ quality requirements.

“The question for care providers is no longer whether AI is in their organisation – it almost certainly is – but whether it’s governed. Doing nothing is now one of the highest‑risk positions a provider can take.”

The day’s programme will run from 10am to 3.30pm and is designed as an interactive, hands‑on learning experience rather than a passive conference.

The day will cover:

  • What AI actually is in practice – a plain-English grounding in what these tools do, what they can’t do, and where care leaders are finding them genuinely useful right now
  • The shadow AI’ reality already present in many organisations and why unmanaged use presents real risk
  • The current regulatory picture, including how AI sits within the CQC’s Well‑Led framework and what inspectors are starting to ask providers
  • The growing Copilot gap” between central office efficiency gains and ungoverned frontline use
  • A Four Pillars AI Governance Framework – Policy, Control, Stewardship and Assurance – aligned to CQC expectations
  • An interactive workshop where delegates complete an AI safety and governance self‑assessment and identify clear next steps
  • An expert panel and open forum, including a CQC‑experienced voice, exploring what “Well‑Led” AI governance looks like in real inspections

What delegates will leave with

Attendees will leave the day with:

  • A completed AI Safety & Governance Scorecard
  • A clear governance framework to work towards
  • Improved understanding of how their digital infrastructure aligns with CQC expectations
  • Practical, achievable next steps tailored to their organisation’s current position
  • Peer connection – the reassurance of being in a room with care leaders who are navigating exactly the same questions

The event is aimed at care leaders at all levels, including C‑suite leaders and directors, Registered managers and digital, quality and transformation leads

Anyone responsible for digital adoption decisions – or the regulatory consequences of them – will benefit. Whether you’ve never opened ChatGPT or you’re already rolling out Microsoft Copilot across your organisation – this day is for you.

The day is hosted by experienced practitioners in regulation, governance and digital transformation, including:

  • Graham Brittain, Digital and AI Governance Consultant
  • Dave Mance, Systems Strategist and CPD‑certified AI Trainer, host of the AI in Social Care Podcast
  • Antony Hall, Regulation, Operations & Quality (Panellist)
  • CQC Inspector / Manager – to be confirmed

The event is free to attend, but places are limited and early registration is advised.
